Yoga Foster is a non-profit initiative that fosters creativity through the children's yoga practice. We empower volunteers with the tools and resources they need to give back to the communities around them.
Our free children's yoga programs are designed specifically for each school, matching the best volunteer, and includes mats and yoga supplies, flyers and pamphlets for students, and training/education for teachers and parents.
In addition to teacher trainings and events held around the city, our online courses allow volunteers to engage with our teaching manual in a fun and engaging way.
Creativity is for all. And it's up to us to make sure the future of our society - youth - is inspired and empassioned as they grow. We aim to use our programs for advocating creative aptitude in youth.
Coming soon: Our Creativity Campaign
Through this tried and tested model, we can apply key characteristics of creativity to the children's yoga practice in order to create the most inspiring and imaginative classes.
Creativity is as important now in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status.
The creative aptitude of our society is dwindling. Our education system is focused on fulfilling state and national standards that arts-based activities and other programs that spark creative intellect are not receiving the support or dedicated needed to keep students passionate and inspired, in and out of school.
Yoga provides a non-judgmental, supportive environment for students to try new ideas, think differently, and engage with others in a creative, organic way - an opportunity usually not provided in an educational setting. From here, we can inspire youth to do anything.
Watch Yoga Foster founder Nicole Cardoza talk on NBC about the power volunteers can have in transforming education:
Afterschool, Elementary School: 1 class
Afterschool, Middle School: 2 classes
(Starting Spring 2013)
