Yoga Foster has exclusive grant opportunities for educators in our core markets for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
Apply for an exclusive full scholarship for our programs – receiving training, lesson plans, yoga mats, mentorship, premium subscriptions to yoga and mindfulness tools, and more. Grant deadline: April 19, 2019.
Any active K-8 full-time educator (including counselors, wellness coordinators, SEL leads, etc) in a public school in the U.S.
Willing to fully commit and provide feedback four times during the school year.
RECENT GRANT RECIPIENTS
A Yoga Foster grant will help meet the needs of these students, and provide them the training to help self-monitor and cope with the stress of their lives. It will also help the broader community, because implementing yoga typically sparks a trickle-down effect
I strive to incorporate mindfulness into the school day. I am interested in research and practice around trauma sensitive schools and teaching. We know that many of our students have experienced trauma and mindfulness practices help to center them so they can focus on academics
I am especially interested in bringing this "quiet" exercise into my gym class for the students with special needs and those who are sensitive to loud noise. I want to provide them with an activity that will calm them, rather than stress them out, which often times happens with the noise level in the gym. --
As educators, we know that it does indeed "take a village" to educate and train our children. The more experienced and supportive our "village" is, the more successful we will be at shaping well rounded and confident children.
I would love to be able to offer students yoga classes during indoor recess during the winter months. I would share knowledge and practices with the faculty community. This would assist the faculty to increase their own quality of life as well as give them to opportunity to share/practice mindfulness with the student community.
I imagine myself using Yoga Foster in addition to our weekly curriculum. Scheduled lessons and activities would become part of our normal routines.
I am the Assistant Principal and this year I am lucky to have 350 6th graders. I would love to incorporate mindfulness and movement into the school day. We participate in PBIS ( Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) and our committee meets to identify social and emotional needs of our students.
Yoga has been something the students have been doing here for the past several years. However, the previous teacher who taught yoga has moved on, and the new teacher is willing to carry the yoga curriculum on.
We know, however, we have many children that have experienced trauma in their lives and believe that using a mindfulness approach would help reduce anxiety, fear and negative feelings. We know this approach could have a positive and lifelong impact on on our students to help support them in times of stress.
Our student population come from low income homes where jobs are minimal and seasonal. The school provides a safe haven for the students, food, warmth, and social interaction with peers and adults that care. Yoga Foster will make a difference for all students
